Herringbone or straight plank – how do I choose?

Quality is identical. The difference is pattern, fitting time and a bit more waste on herringbone.

The short answer

This comes down to your personal preference and what you like the look of in your house. In terms of the quality of the product and the wear and tear, they are identical. All we are looking at is whether we are in a pattern, or whether we are uniform going in a straight line.

In terms of the installation process, herringbone takes significantly more time to install than the straight plank. The reason for that is each individual plank here comes on its own, and we have just got to put all those together. And in this particular board, every 13cm is a 45 degree angle cut.

There is slightly more waste when it comes to herringbone.

It generally just comes down to personal preference.
