How should I decide on my plank width?

Narrow means more variation and lower cost. Wide means longer boards and a calmer, more uniform look.

The short answer

This is more of an aesthetic thing for your house, and every environment is different. On the left here I have got a 125 wide, and on the right I have got a 190 wide.

Usually the wider the board, the longer the lengths they come in. The shorter boards do not come in fixed lengths, they are scattered, so you can have anything from 400 long up to 1.2 metres in length.

But it will come down to how these would look inside your environment. If you go for a narrower board you are going to get a lot more variation in the tones in the floor. A little bit busier, but it is going to be more affordable. With your longer boards you are going to have less variation. It is going to look slightly larger, more uniform in colour.
