Can engineered timber flooring be sanded?
Yes. A 6mm veneer can take three or four sandings, and most homes will not need one for 15 years.
The short answer
Can an engineered board be sanded and refinished? The answer is yes, but it will also depend on how thick of a veneer you have.
This particular veneer here is six millimetres. This board itself is actually a smoked board, so the colour goes all the way through. So when you sand this down it will be a similar colour, slightly lighter. And then you can just lacquer it, wax it or oil it.
You can probably sand this down three to four times. We generally say that you will not need to sand it down for the first 15 years, depending on wear and tear. If you are on a domestic property and it is just your family and you, and you do not have big dobermans, then you do not need to sand it down for a long time.
