What is the best flooring for an Airbnb?

The short answer

That is a tricky question, because you do not want to be replacing it all the time.

If you go for an engineered product with a thick veneer, you are generally going to be able to repair it, whether that is putting wood filler in just to repair boards that have been scratched or damaged. That is probably going to give you the most longevity, because you can sand that and refinish it without having to replace the actual boards themselves.

With laminate, once you have had gouges taken out of it, or water spilt on it, you are generally going to get expansion in the laminate itself, and then you are replacing those boards or the whole area.

Vinyl plank is a great product also, but you are going to see a lot of wear and tear after a while, and fading of the product.

So get the engineered timber with a thick veneer. That way, if you ever need to, you can sand and refinish, or you can patchwork.
