Can you fix a squeaky floor?
We screw the boards down and choose the right underlay, but no timber floor is ever completely squeak free.
The short answer
One of the biggest concerns our customers have with the subfloor is squeaks. Can we remove that and make sure that it does not squeak any more?
We do our best to make the floor not squeak. But when you have a timber subfloor, or a material like OSB or a pine subfloor, it expands and contracts with moisture. So it is near impossible to get rid of all squeaks. What we will do is make sure we do our best to fix all these boards down, so they are squeaking less.
A way to make the subfloor squeak less is by how you install the product on top. So if you are having a floating floor over your subfloor with an underlay, when you compress in that area the underlay takes up some of that movement.
