What is a lacquered floor?

Coats of lacquer seal the timber so liquids bead on top. The floor you do not have to think about.

The short answer

This particular product that we are looking at is a lacquered floor. Once it has gone through a sanding and brush process, this one is brushed, it has been given a lacquer coat. Most of the products have a number of coatings of lacquer over the top.

What that does is protect the timber from being porous. So if you are spilling liquids on top of it, it is going to bead on top rather than absorb into the timber. Please note that if you leave a significant spill it will obviously eventually absorb, but it gives you plenty of time to get to it and wipe it up.

If you are looking for a floor that you can just not think about, a lacquered floor is the way to go.
