What are door threshold strips, and do I need them?
Count your doorways. You need a threshold for every room we are not flooring.
The short answer
This particular threshold runs between your new flooring and your existing flooring, whether that be tiles, other timber or other laminate. There are different types that go up to back doors and front doors, L trims for example.
These are crucial when you are buying your flooring, so make sure that when you do buy your flooring you have these in mind. We need these to fit your job and we do not carry them in our vans, so please make sure that you pick these up when you are picking your flooring up.
To work out what you need, just count out how many doorways you have. If you have got carpet in bedrooms and you are going to timber, you need carpet thresholds. They are the ones that have got grippers on the end that go over the carpet and over the timber. If you have got four bedrooms, you need four thresholds that go to carpet. If you have got a kitchen with tiles in it, we need a door threshold for that. If you have got other tiles or other timber surfaces, you need a flat threshold like this, that has got self-adhesive on the back.
And if you have a front door or a back door that has got a PVC door surround, we need to get an L trim that suits that. So please keep that in mind when you come to The Wooden Floor Store. Get these products ready for us on site.
